Newsflash - Lockdown for Greater Brisbane
The Queensland Government has today announced that as of 4pm today, 11 local government areas in South-East Queensland will be in lockdown. Schools till next Wednesday, will only be open for students of essential workers. At this point of time schools are expected to reopen to students and staff on Wednesday August 4 unless health authorities advise otherwise. It is important that all families in the community follow the Queensland Government health directive. Reducing the number of potential social interactions in and around the school decreases the opportunity for infection to be transmitted. Every family in our school has a role to play in supporting the health advice.
On Monday the school will only be open for students of essential workers. Parents do not need to notify the school if a student is not attending in the next two days. The school will not be notifying parents if students are not attending school during this lockdown period.
Essential workers are those that must currently continue to attend their workplace during this time. For students attending school from Monday the school will provide supervision only. High School students attending school over the next few days will be required to wear a face masks at school at all times.
Remote learning will not start for students at home until Tuesday. The college will send home more information regarding remote learning on Monday. Students at home on Monday can utilise the time to finish assessment tasks and revise learning. Where required, assessment schedules and exams will be rescheduled to ensure students are not disadvantaged. Students will be given advanced warning of this rescheduling and should not expect these to be held the first day back after the lockdown concludes.
If your child will be attending school during the lockdown they need to be at school before 9am. Students at school are expected to stay for the duration of the day. They are expected to wear school uniform and comply with school routines and procedures. Primary students are asked to assemble in the Primary school hall before school and Secondary school students need to meet in the Secondary Gymnasium.
The primary canteen will remain open for pre orders only, there will be no over the counter service.
The primary school red food day will be move to the following Monday.
The secondary canteen will remain open. Only a minimal menu will be available.
The OSHC will remain open. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if your child will no longer be attending for the duration of lockdown.
All school events and face to face meetings in the school are cancelled this week.
