Thank you for your support for our school community during the latest lockdown. The Chief Health Officer lifted the lockdown in the 11 Local Government Areas at 4pm yesterday afternoon. From this morning, Monday 9 August 2021, our College welcomed back all students and staff.
Whilst this is welcome news, we are required to implement additional restrictions to minimise transmission and further protect the health and safety of our school community. These additional restrictions will include the wearing of masks on school sites for all adults and children in Year 7 upwards and limiting parents, carers and other visitors on school sites unless absolutely necessary.
Restrictions on having parents/carers and visitors on school sites have been in place in the past, particularly during last year and our College will be reinstating our previous arrangements to ensure students enter and leave schools safely.
If for any reason a parent or carer must be on school grounds, you are reminded that you must wear a mask at all times while visiting the school. Our Primary school staff were out in force this morning assisting students to move from the front gate to classrooms. The College will continue to have additional staff at the front gate of the Primary school, to assist our younger students move from the drop off area to the classroom safely. The Primary school will send out further information to provide parents with clarity around pick up in the afternoons.
Teaching returns from online learning to face-to-face teaching. While students may still be able to access OneNote lessons and notes plus other teaching resources, online teaching will not be supported by the teachers who will this week focus their work on in class instruction.
The Department of Education has also asked us to implement the following additional restrictions until otherwise advised:
Instrumental music classes in the Primary and Secondary schools will proceed in percussion. Strings Woodwind and Brass lessons will be suspended in both sub-schools until further notice. Swimming lessons for both the primary and secondary schools have been postponed. The Primary school gala sports days have been postponed, although it is likely these will be rescheduled next term in an alternate format.
- Assemblies and other large group activities including instrumental music bands and ensembles, choirs, performances, extra curricula sporting activities, and dancing are not permitted.
- Interschool sport and excursions are not permitted.
The latest developments may create challenges for families, but please be assured these decisions have been taken as a necessary response to the evolving COVID-19 situation.
Thank you for your understanding as we continue to work together during these times.
